VP calls for crackdown against misleading religious teachings

Vice President, Dr Philip Mpango, has urged the Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Office of the Registrar of Societies, to fully enforce the Societies Registration Act. Speaking during the 50th Jubilee celebrations of the New Life Outreach Church in Sakina, Arusha, Dr Mpango stressed the need for registered institutions to adhere to their founding principles. “We must express worry over the increasing number of religious leaders promoting miracles over hard work as the path to success,” he told the congregation. He also criticised preachers who amass personal wealth through offerings and sales of religious items, noting that vulnerable citizens often fall prey to such practices. Dr Mpango urged religious leaders to work with the government in denouncing harmful teachings a n d promoting a culture of diligence, wisdom and patriotism. Founder of New Life Outreach Tanzania Church, Eva ngelist Dr Egon Falk, assured the congregation that the church will continue to comply with national laws while offering essential social services, including educational scholarships for disadvantaged children
