Tanzania’s football hopes rest firmly on the shoulders of Simba Sports Club as they head into a decisive second-leg clash against South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC in the Africa Confederation Cup semi-final tomorrow, April 27, 2025 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Simba SC carry a slender but crucial 1–0 advantage from the first leg, played at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar a fortnight ago, thanks to an early strike by Ivorian forward Jean Ahoua. That goal has set the stage for what promises to be a dramatic return fixture, with both clubs eyeing a place in the continental final.
The Tanzanian giants have demonstrated resilience and composure throughout their Confederation Cup campaign and remain unbeaten in their last six matches in the competition. A draw in Durban would be enough to book their place in the final.
Simba’s strategy is expected to revolve around disciplined defending and lightning-fast counterattacks.
On the other side, Stellenbosch FC returned home knowing they must score at least two goals to overturn the deficit and progress. Their attacking threat, led by winger Devin Titus, has been formidable on home soil — where they remain unbeaten in their last five outings.
A spot in the CAF Confederation Cup final is up for grabs. “For Simba, it’s not just a game — it’s a national mission,” said team captain Mohamed Hussein.
