Celebrating a new era of conservation and youth empowerment in Kilimanjaro

Last month marked a significant milestone for environmental conservation and youth empowerment in the Kilimanjaro region.

In collaboration with Greenmanjaro, the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS), and the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots and Shoots programme (Roots & Shoots), we proudly inaugurated the Kili Green Hub in Rau, Moshi. This pioneering initiative aims to inspire and equip the next generation of environmental leaders—our Kili Heroes.

The Kili Green Hub is more than just a building; it is a vibrant and dynamic space where young people from the Kilimanjaro region, alongside Roots & Shoots leaders, will engage in workshops, hands-on training, and impactful community projects. This centre will serve as a platform for innovation, leadership, and the development of sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Greenmanjaro introduced a pilot edition of their student book, The Future is in Our Hands, sharing 1,500 copies with the Roots & Shoots Arusha office. These extracurricular books will be distributed to 60 Roots & Shoots schools across Kilimanjaro, reinforcing the belief that empowering young people is the key to fostering long-term environmental stewardship.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed partners, Greenmanjaro and TFS, and to all those who contributed to making this initiative a reality. To everyone who attended the launch, your support and commitment to our shared vision are truly appreciated.

Stay engaged as we continue to grow—one tree and one young leader at a time.
