MEGA CONFERENCE CENTRE COMING TO ARUSHA

The Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) and the Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF), both state-owned, have teamed up to build East and Central Africa’s biggest conference facility in Arusha capable of seating 4,500 delegates.

A joint press statement said the agreement for the Sh 385 billion project was inked on March 8, 2025, and construction is expected to take two years, though the selected contractor remains undisclosed.

The facility will not only enhance Arusha’s conference hosting capabilities, but also include a luxurious five-star hotel featuring 200 rooms and 10 presidential suites. The plan also features a sprawling 20,000-square-metre business district, a 2,000-car parking lot, and a state-of-the-art helipad.

The project was officially inked by AICC Managing Director, Ms. Christine Mwakatobe, and PSSSF Director General, Mr. Abdul-Razzaq Badru, in a ceremony witnessed by key government officials including Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Mohamed Thabit Kombo, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disability), Mr. Ridhwani Kikwete.
