By The Arusha News Reporter

The eagerly awaited “Masika” rains have commenced, bringing significant relief to Arusha and Kilimanjaro, which experienced a severe heatwave in January and February that scorched most farm crops and threatened domestic animals in the predominantly livestock-keeping regions. Rains are predicted through next month.

Meteorological data indicates that Arusha will experience light rainfall with temperatures fluctuating between 25°C and 34°C throughout the month. Typically, temperatures for the month range from a brisk 17°C to a balmy 29°C. Historical weather patterns for March show an average of seven to eight rainy days, accumulating about 153 mm of rainfall.

Kilimanjaro’s highlands are expected to be cooler during March and April, aligning with the seasonal norms for the area. Further northeast, Tanga will enjoy warmer weather, with daytime temperatures peaking at around 32°C.

“Residents should anticipate sunny mornings that may give way to light showers by evening, especially towards the end of March,” explained a local weather expert.

“Residents should be prepared for a range of conditions that could include heavy downpours,” cautioned weather authorities.

The typical sunrise and sunset times shall be around 06:28 and 18:32, respectively, though slight variations could occur as the month progresses.

Manyara region, mirroring the climate pattern of Arusha, is set to face a mix of light to potentially heavy rainfall, reflecting broader regional weather trends.
