Tanzania’s rising long-distance runner, Joseph Panga, is poised to compete among the world’s top athletes at the highly anticipated Berlin Half Marathon, scheduled for tomorrow, April 6, 2025.
Speaking to The Arusha News in an exclusive interview, Panga shared his excitement and confidence heading into the race. “I have been working hard for this race and hope to do well,” he said, visibly eager to test himself against the best in the world.
The athlete has spent the past few weeks in intensive training within his camp in Arusha, sharpening his endurance, speed, and race strategy specifically for this event.
Panga’s recent performance speaks volumes of his current form. Just last week, he secured an impressive second-place finish at the World Military Games Cross Country competition, which was held in Switzerland. This outstanding result has boosted his morale and readiness for the Berlin showdown.
“I am aiming high at the Berlin Marathon,” he declared with determination, adding that the Berlin race is a key opportunity for him to improve his international ranking and reputation.
The 2025 Berlin Half Marathon is expected to feature a massive field of over 35,000 runners from around the globe, making it one of the largest and most competitive races on the international calendar.
Reports from Berlin highlight a new course design introduced this year, crafted to be faster and more visually engaging for both runners and spectators. This new route cuts through the heart of Berlin, passing famous historical sites like the Berlin Palace and the Rotes Rathaus, with a thrilling finish line set near the iconic Brandenburg Gate.
For Joseph Panga, this is more than just another race. It is a platform to prove himself, showcase Tanzania’s athletic prowess, and possibly inspire a new generation of runners back home.
