the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has elected Ms Gladness Salema as their candidate to replace the late Dr Shogo Richard Mlozi in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Dr Mlozi passed on in June 2024 following a short sickness. During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, Ms Gladness received 139 out of 244 cast by CCM’s parliamentarians. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) Business School and has contributed to the technical team drafting Tanzania Vision 2050. Ms Gladness will be sworn in during the EALA Session which begins on 20 October, 2024 at its seat in Arusha.
